Who we are?

After the earthquake of October 8, 2005, Forum of Rehabilitation of Disabled (FORD) was founded by Aqeel Haider Banday who was one of the victims of spinal cord injury, with an objective of providing integrated services in the entire spectrum of development for the uplift of the quality of the life of the persons with limited physical and functional mobility.

Our Services

Health & Rehabilitation

FORD in collaboration with its partners provides both preventative, curative and assistive health services to the person with physical challenges.

Counseling

FORD has been providing counselling services since October 2005 Earthquake to people with disabilities.

Livelihood

FORD in collaboration with its partners provides comprehensive vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities age 14 to 90+.

Community Development

Organizing community leaders, officials, children, and parents is an important part of FORD’s community development program.

Joint Social Participation

FORD maintains relationship by consolidating the resources of other working organizations in recognizing the community’s interests.

Ambulance Service

FORD offers 24×7 emergency ambulance services for people in need. We currently have one Ambulance to cover Bagh region.

Wellbeing of the disabled is always our number one priority.

The society believes that the “just and equal community participation” is the key to “sustainable development” in all phases of project planning, implementation and monitoring which defines the mission statement of the FORD as:
Health Care and Rehabilitation Management of Persons with Limited Physical and Functional Mobility i.e. Spinal Cord Injured Persons, Wheelchair Users and persons with lower limb body weakness. All these persons need to be mentored for their particular independent living style.


Our Partners

FORD’s work depends on the support and cooperation of many people and organization. In addition to countless volunteers and individual donors around the area, it has been delivering many services to organizations playing an important role in socio-economic community development.

FORD maintains relationship by consolidating the resources of other working organizations in recognizing the community’s interests, engaging the NGOs and Community Organizations for solidarity, coordination and self realization. Collaboration was developed with various self-help groups, NGOs and INGOs to facilitate in the provision of information to implementation of projects.
